hi Synthia. I hope you are doing well and have a nice Birthday. Miss your posts. Aug. 24, 2006
Today's recipe for tailgate weekend is-
Chili Cheese Fries
The Chili:
1 lb of ground beef
1 can (14 oz.) diced tomatoes or you can dice up a fresh tomato yourself.
1 can (15 oz.) kidney or pinto beans( although it's been said that true chili does not have beans in it. Who knows!) So, we'll say that the beans are optional.
1 packet (1 1/4 oz.) of chili seasoning
1 packet of Sazon Goya or accent
1 tsp of garlic powder
This is optional: You can add chopped onion or green pepper if you want.
1) Brown meat and drain
2) Add remaining ingredients
3) Simmer 15 minutes
The Fries:
The amount of potatoes you use depends upon the amount of fries that you want to produce.
We'll start with at least 3 large potatoes
Wash your potatoes.
Peel them.
And slice them lenghtwise into 1/4- 1/2 in. sections (you know the characteristic size and shape of a french fry)
or
You can use one of those nifty potato slicers which has a special cutting grate in the middle. This cutter cuts your potato into those above mentioned sections all in one feld swoop.
Now fry your potatoes over medium to medium-high heat until golden brown.
The Cheese: Shredded cheddar, or some other cheese to your liking.
Some assembly required:
This is the easy part:
Place your newly fried potatoes on the plate and top with the chili.
Now sprinkle plenty of shredded cheddar or whatever cheese you like
Now Enjoy!!
See you next time around when we do Corndogs!
