hi Synthia. I hope you are doing well and have a nice Birthday. Miss your posts. Aug. 24, 2006
Hey All!!! I'm baaaack! But guess what??!! I'm not going to cook for this recipe......my Mom is! Tonight she's making steak! Hence...
THE GREAT STEAK ESCAPE !!!!!!!!
Mmm Mmmmmmmm! Will ya look at that!!??!!! Now doesn't that look simply tasty?! The good news is: This is just tooooo simple to make!
Follow my Mom as she shows us how to make this Yummy steak topped in tasty carrots, onions, and potatoes! You know moms, they just gotta make sure you eat your veggies because they're good for you! What a tasty way to do it!
The Ingredients:
About 4 large carrots
2 large potatoes
10 to 12 small onions (you can get a bag of small onions)
A steak (your choice of a cut of meat , size, etc.)
1 packet of Lipton onion mushroom soup
You can go on ahead and cook you steak ahead ****( About 1 hour. The total time is about 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees F or 177 degrees C.)
If you decide to do the meat at the same time as the veggies, then you should handle your veggies first. Why? Well if we make a habit of handling any vegetables (whether they will be eaten raw or cooked) before we handle or deal with meat or raw meat products, we can cut down on food borne illness from cross contamination. I'll say this though, if you have no choice, and you just have to do the meat first, make sure to carefully clean and disinfect your sink and surfaces (cutting board, counters).
Next we'll chop the Veggies.
Depending upon how big the onions are, you might be able to leave them whole. if they are small leave them whole if you want.
Now we can arrange the raw veggies over the steak (which at this point is most of the way cooked. The steak has been in for approximately an hour. Again the time will depend upon your meat:thickness etc. You want your meat tender. So you will have to keep checking it for tenderness.)
Now it's time to add the Lipton Onion Mushroom Soup!
Let's get this into the oven and let the veggies cook, and the steak finish cooking. You can put it back in the oven still at 350 degress F(177 degrees C
for about 1/2 hour ( This 1/2 hour is the last of the 1 1/2 hours I mentioned earlier.)
Ok, now it's time to see our finished product!
Yum, Yum, time to eat!!!!!! Dig in!
